Dorm management held a grand opening ceremony at the dorm campus center on Dec. 13 for a new pavilion constructed for dorm Airmen.

The ceremony, hosted by Brig. Gen. Daniel T. Lasica, commander of the 31st Fighter Wing and Chief Master Sgt. Jamie L. Newman, command chief of the 31st Fighter Wing, included a live DJ, free food, gelato, hot chocolate, games and some information about events for dorm Airmen on and off base.

Gen. Lasica gave a speech at the ceremony about the importance of our Aviano Airmen before cutting the ribbon, deeming the new pavilion open. Gen. Lasica and Chief Newman also went around talking to Airmen attending the event.

Airmen and their guests attending the event were able to enjoy all the ceremony had to offer and were able to connect with fellow wingmen. The Airmen Against Drunk Driving team supplied pugil sticks so Airmen and their guests were able to spar with one another.

The pavilion itself, built to improve quality of life and morale for dorm Airmen, includes a gas-fire pit, two BBQ gas-grills, a projector, Bluetooth surround sound and will serve as a great community focal point for Aviano Airmen who want to hang out, relax and have a good time. All dorm Airmen are eligible to use the new pavilion.
